Recall the Seinfeld episode of the same name. It’s an apt title for another comedy, namely The World According to Barack Obama and the Left who Adore Him. Remember, it’s not what he says, it’s how he says it:
“Potentially we’ve got trillion-dollar deficits for years to come, even with the economic recovery that we are working on at this point. We’re going to have to stop talking about budget reform. We’re going to have to totally embrace it. It’s an absolute necessity.” –Barack Obama on “budget reform,” by which he means slashing national defense spending
Obama, during a press conference this week, admitted—in essence—that his economic stimulus plan won’t work. Despite it, the US is facing a deficit of trillions of dollars for years to come. That’s trillion: 1,000,000,000,000. To put that into perspective, 1 trillion seconds = 31,000 years. TRILLION.
Welcome to Bizarro World, the place where economic stimulus plans de-stimulate the economy rather than stimulate it. Where somehow it makes sense to INCREASE the national debt in order to decrease it. Where it makes sense to throw more money (yours and mine) into government— not the private sector—to expedite economic recovery. And, of course, he admits his plan will include entitlement programs. Phew!
As Rush said, “We are witnessing the growing of a massive government spending bubble. Now, we had the housing bubble just a few short months ago, and what caused that bubble to burst? Wasn’t it debt — massive debt that cannot ever be repaid? Such debt is a recipe for disaster, and yet we’re replicating it with Obama’s stimulus!”
What happened to that scalpel Obama talked about during the election? Where’s the “line-by-line” stuff? We’re all supposed to tighten our belts (and I agree) while the Democrat-controlled government gluts itself with our money and plays up fear resulting in the biggest power grab in recent history. Panic, they say, and we’ll take advantage of that panic to take your money and push forward with our radical leftist agenda. As Rahm Emanuel said late last year: “[The economic crisis facing the country] is an opportunity to do things you could not do before. You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Can you imagine what would have happened if a Republican would have had the gall to say such a thing?
Embrace it, people. Embrace it!
But, I suppose such things make sense in Bizarro World, where, in the same vein, Obama promised to reduce the number of abortions by making them legal all the time, at any stage of pregnancy, by subsidizing them, and by funding them with our tax dollars. Such things make eminent sense to those living in Bizarro World.
I think I’ll stick to the real world.
