What…is THAT?

THAT, my friends, is what David pulled from our bathtub drain upstairs.  I was beginning to wonder why that bathtub drained so slowly, and it was also leaking a bit.  So I sent David upstairs to investigate, and lo and behold, he came back downstairs with The Mother of All Hairballs.  Yes, that THING hanging about 16 inches down from the removed drain is a collection of human hair that very well could be as old as the house, (circa 1916.)  Why, you ask, is it a yellowish-brown color?  It apparently took on the characteristic hue of rust due to our water’s high iron content.  Yes, it was just about the most gag-worthy sight I had ever beheld, and after I recoiled in horror, I did what any other person living in 2008 would do: I grabbed my camera!

Note: the intermingled mixture of revulsion and adolescent glee at war on David’s face.

The good news: it has been removed and the drain has been replaced.  It is hair-free, shiny and new, and the water displays the appropriate spiral as is drains at a rapid rate.  I’m so sorry if this post has disturbed anyone.

And now, on a COMPLETELY different note, I want to say a big thank you to Megan for the cds I received in the mail today.  They are fantastic!  It is just what I need to rev up my runs.  (I desperately needed some new music, and they are ghetto-fabulous!)  When it comes to what is new in fashion and music, I’m an ignoramus.  All I listen to is talk-radio, and country-dwelling, though quiet and simple, is not conducive to viewing the latest fashion trends.  And so I must depend on my city-dwelling, with-it friends to keep me updated.  Thank you, thank you!

  2. You should air dry it and varnish it over and sell it as priceless art.
